Why I Volunteer

One Sunday in church the pastor was addressing retired folks saying that just because you are retired doesn't mean it's time to stop giving and using your God-given talents. Shortly after, Stacy Rich, Crittenton's Director of Marketing and Development, addressed a gathering of retired Marshall County school employees, explaining what Crittenton was all about, soliciting volunteers, and inviting folks to come for a tour. I went for the tour and just felt that this was where I was supposed to be. Yes, God does work in mysterious ways.

After spending a number of months tutoring, spending time with the girls, seeing an improvement in the academics and attitudes, I feel an overwhelming sense of fulfillment which truly gives meaning to the saying that it is better to give than to receive.

If you have some spare time on your hands and a willingness to help others, you too will experience the natural 'high' that comes from making a difference in someone's life.
