Crittenton's Residents Taking Cooking Classes from Junior League Members
It's called "Kids in the Kitchen," but Crittenton's Residential clients will receive more than just a lesson on cooking this week as the Junior League of Wheeling
will spend an evening with the girls in the program.
The "Kids in the Kitchen" program was developed in 2006 by the Junior League to help combat childhood obesity. It has grown and continues league-wide. The Junior
League is a group of women in the community dedicated to serving and volunteering to help the needs of others.
Junior League members will cook with the girls in Crittenton's kitchen on Wednesday, April 20, teaching them how to make an appetizer, entrée and dessert. But the
teaching doesn't stop there. Members are also talking with the girls about nutrition, WIC costs and other information beneficial to their health and their babies'
health.
"Nutrition is something we teach every day with our girls, but with the Junior League's generous assistance, we can take that idea to another level, exposing the
girls to young, successful women in our community. Any time our girls can spend quality time with caring people in our community, they win," said Tracee Chambers,
Vice President of Residential Services.
The cooking begins at 6 p.m. and lasts through 8 p.m.
Note: The girls in Crittenton's Residential Program cannot be shown in pictures or videos as they are protected minors. Thank you.
